What the Work Costs

Pricing comes up on every job, so here's how it runs.

What drives the cost of clearing a blocked drain?

Access, depth and pipe material matter most, along with what caused the blockage. A shallow choke near an inspection opening costs less to clear than a collapsed clay length buried deep under a hill street.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. Our plumber locates the fault, sets out the repair and agrees a fixed upfront price with you ahead of starting, so no hourly-rate guesswork is involved.

How do I pay on the day?

You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day, once the line has been cleared and tested. There's nothing to hand over until you've agreed the price and the work is finished.

Can I get a price before the work starts?

Yes. The plumber diagnoses the blockage first, then quotes the full job in writing. Nothing starts until you say go, so there are no surprise extras afterwards.

Whose Pipe Is Whose

Boundary questions decide who pays for what, so we answer them straight.

Who fixes the pipe between my place and the street?

The house drain on your land is the owner's responsibility, while the sewer main out in the street belongs to Urban Utilities. We clear everything up to that connection point.

What if the blockage is in the authority's main?

Then it's Urban Utilities' job, not ours, and we'll say so straight rather than charge you for work on a pipe we can't touch.

Who handles shared stacks in apartment blocks?

Body corporate rules usually decide who books the work on shared stacks. We confirm the arrangements on site before starting, so unit owners aren't left guessing.

Does the pipe's age change who's responsible?

No. Whether your drain is short earthenware from the mid-1930s or newer PVC, the boundary rule is the same: your side of the connection is yours to fix.

Local Drain Realities

Hamilton's mix of hill villas and riverside apartments throws up its own drain questions.

Call (07) 3522 5633

Why do drains here block so often?

A few things stack up: aged clay joints on the hill streets, grease from the dining precinct's kitchens, and the sagging fill ground near the river that traps waste.

Does a high tide hold stormwater outlets shut?

Yes. When the river runs high, the tide can hold outlets closed across the low ground, so a downpour has nowhere to go but the pits and yard gullies.

Do older houses need special care with their drains?

Many hill-street homes still run on short earthenware lengths from the first sewer connections, so we clear those lines with a gentler touch and check for cracked joints.

Is a camera inspection worth the money?

When a drain blocks repeatedly or the cause isn't obvious, a camera run shows whether it's buildup, roots or a broken pipe, so you pay for the right fix.

What shouldn't go down the drain?

Cooking fat, wipes, paper towels and hygiene products are the usual offenders. Fat sets solid in the cool stretches of older pipe, and wipes bind into the choke even when labelled flushable.

Does flooding affect household drains?

Council's mapping shows past floods reaching the low riverside ground here, and floodwater carries silt into pits and lines, so a check after a big flood is worth booking.

Booking and Coverage

Local Hamilton Blocked Drains keeps booking simple: one call, one price, one visit.

Call (07) 3522 5633

How fast can you get here?

Same-day where we can, especially on morning calls. We'll give you a realistic arrival window when you ring, rather than a promise we can't keep.

Which areas do you cover?

Hamilton itself plus Ascot, Murarrie, Bulimba and Newstead, all part of the regular run. Each of those suburbs has its own page here with the drain work described.

Are you locally owned?

Yes, locally owned and operated, not a franchise. The team works Brisbane's northside and Moreton Bay, and Hamilton sits on the regular run.

Are you licensed for drainage work?

QBCC licensed for plumbing and drainage, with the licence number shown on this site. Every drain job we take on is covered by it.

What should I have ready when I call?

Which fixtures are slow, how long it's been happening, and whether sewage or stormwater is involved. That helps the plumber bring the right gear on the first trip.

How do I book a drain visit?

Ring (07) 3522 5633 and describe the drain that's playing up. You'll agree a fixed upfront price before work begins, and we'll fit you in, same-day where we can.
